What happens when we are faced with ourselves and forced to wander within the deep wilderness of our minds? We are subjected to reflect on the fears, dreams and values that we suppress or distract our self from in everyday life. Black and white strips away the anchor that prevents you from facing yourself. This monochrome colour palette focuses your eye on what is important. Colour I feel can sometimes hinder the significance of a painting or photography, losing sight in the colourful buzz of activity and drawing you away from its original meaning.
I was inspired by a piece of text I found while researching in the library. The text in question was at the back of a Modern Painters magazine and was an illustrated excerpt of a unfinished novel by Michael Baers. It was this section of the text below, which drew my interest with rich vocabulary that seemed hidden away among the rest of the passage.
